On Tuesday 11 February, we launched our first round of programs for 2020 with a community project workshop day held at the Atlassian headquarters. The community project is an important component of our programs that teaches young people to focus on others and their local community. A group of students from St Agnes CHS, Birrong Girls, Chester Hill and Seven Hill high schools participated in the workshop which was facilitated by project management professionals.
Activities included identifying members in the local community that would benefit from a community project and creating individual and team vision statements to help visualise common goals to achieve through the project. The workshop equipped the students with essential skills such as teamwork, resource management and time management. The intensive workshop allowed the students to leave with an actionable plan to implement and execute their community project which will positively impact their local community.
Thank you to Sean Tedi, Marcela Lerda, Phil Mantica, Simon Becket, Dominik Katz and Cat Hymes for guiding the students through the workshop. Thank you also to our funding partner Atlassian Foundation for kindly hosting the day, coordinating volunteers, catering and photography.
